Summer Reading Programs Return to Dearborn

Dearborn Public Library is again holding Summer Reading Programs for all ages starting today, June 18.

Children of all ages can come to any Dearborn Public Library to register and pick out books for reading. In addition, children can enjoy weekly crafts, movies, storytimes and other activities at the Henry Ford Centennial Library.

Children from birth to age three years can join the Baby and Toddler Program. Parents pick up an activity folder, complete the activity board and return for a free book and prize. Mother Goose Storytimes are being held throughout the summer for this age group.

Dream Big – READ! is for Pre-schoolers (aged 3 years) through 5th grade in the fall. Children can come into the library to pick out books, take them home, read them and return each week for entry into weekly drawings. Every participant who visits the library at least twice through the summer will get a free book.

Students entering 6th through 12th grade are welcome to join the Teen Read Program. Those who read the most can enter each week for a chance to win a Barnes and Noble gift card. Teens will receive a free book on their second visit. Any teen that reads one book and returns an entry form will be eligible for the Grand Prize – a Nook eReader.

Adults are not left out of the summer fun. Each book read or listened to will earn an entry in weekly drawings for Barnes and Noble gift cards. Participants that return at least one weekly drawing entry will be entered to win a Nook eReader.

New this year is the ability to enter and track weekly reading online. Participants will be able to log in through the library’s website and enter their books for prize drawings. Please visit HERE for more information.

All Summer Reading Programs end on Friday, August 3.

The annual Summer Reading Program Wrap-Up Party will be on Thursday, August 9, from 6 p.m. to 8p.m. at the Henry Ford Centennial Library.

Grand Prizes will be awarded by Mayor O’Reilly. Families can enjoy activities, games and snacks.
