Dearborn Police Recover Stolen Model A Car
Dearborn Police recovered this 1930 Ford Model A convertible that was stolen from the Henry Ford Museum parking lot on June 26.
Dearborn Police today announced that surveillance officers (July 11) recovered the 1930 Ford Model-A and trailer that was stolen June 26 from the grounds of The Henry Ford Museum.
After several weeks of developing leads from concerned citizens and subsequent surveillance, the trailer containing the classic Ford roadster was found in an industrial area in Detroit near Mt. Elliot and Gratiot. The car and trailer were valued at more than $30,000
“It was a pleasure for us to be able to call the car’s owner in California to let him know that his classic piece of Ford history was recovered by our Special Operations crew,” said Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad in a statement. “Needless to say, he was elated. The hard work that our surveillance officers as well as our detectives put into this case cannot be overstated.”
Haddad also wished to thank the local and national media and H.E.A.T (Help Eliminate Auto Thefts) for their help with this case. The Dearborn PD is still looking for the stolen 2001 F-250 truck with a California license plate that was used to tow the Model A.

KUDOS to the hard working guys who get the job done on our streets. Also to the illustrious Lt. leavens who was awarded an honor from the state POAM. This prestigous award was totally deserved of to this command officer who is the image it portrays. the chief & mayor mccheese should be quite proud to have this award bestowed to such a worthy example.

The Dearborn Police, as usual, did a fine job locating the trailer and car. No matter how critical people may be, they had reasons for not overpublicizing the theft. Now, they can get the truck back.

With a top notch Lt. like Lt.Leavens tracking down this car I’m sure was no problem, because thats why he received the prestigous award that he received (mind you he won the award over all the administrators thru our great state). Residents in this City should feel honored having someone like that bloodhound Lt.Leavens being one of our own, and according to what I hear he is now up to repeat winning this award again next year. Keep up the good work Lt.Leavens I’m sure the Mayor and Chief are proud of you.

and whats even better is that he has been found responsible for a hostile work place complaint filed against him with the graces of the chief who said he was only doing what the chief told him to do. wonder how much money this future lawsuit is going to cost the city. and lets see there is a second HR complaint against him also. what a fine example he is for a command officer. horses ass award winner or just a bafoon, you make the choice. wake up citizens of dearborn, your police department is being destroyed by the mayor and chief who came from that illustrious police department in detroit. what a joke.

Chief Haddad admits that Officer Leavens was doing what he was told todo by Haddad, as well as Haddads boss (Bluto), well congrats, now at least we know how our would be leaders actually lead. They are obviouusly afraid to make the call themselves, so they get their resident flunkie, to do it for them, and all they havew to do is dangle the “commanders” title in front of him. Sounds a bit like a dog and pony show, but evidently thats the way they wish to run the City — gutless like themselves.

That is amazing that the Police were able to track the Model A down. It makes me proud to have such a great Police Department in Dearborn. All officers involved in this case should be highly praised.

Why all the negative comments about the police department? Concerned Cop is a disgruntled cop. Armain and Maggaratz have no idea what they’re talking about. Here is a great story about the police recovering someone’s dear lost property and the political naysayers and hatemongers want to spread lies and discontent to poison a good story. Disgruntled Cop – your comments are a joke. Ask around Detroit PD and you’ll never find a bad word about the Chief. Ask around your own department about yourself and you’ll have a different outcome. Whiners, malcontents, and incompetents will always make HR complaints – as sometimes lazy union members will hide behind their own process. There’s a long history of complainers and quitters who have left police careers early or sued the city (look at the list over the years – not in real nice company). Everyone should look at the award mentioned in the context it was given – a drunken disgrace. If the traits demonstrated in the video (drunken foolishness, shameful comments, unprofessional behavior, and racist innuendos) are what that organization is about, the “prestigious” award is simply an extension of the shame of those that gave it – not those that receive it. Be glad this Mayor and Chief are in their positions. Their dedication and abilities have and will continue to take us through a difficult time successfully. City projects continue to prosper and crime continues to decline – a combination unlike any other city is experiencing. Someones doing something right – and it’s not those spreading hate and negativity on the blogs. The citizens of Dearborn are awake – more than you know. Thank you Dearborn Police – We love you!

With all the negativity that has been spread about the Dearborn Police from this article, I would like to tell about the positive experience my family and I have had. Last year, we had an incident in our neighborhood, where Lt. Leavens was involved in the matter, he handled our concerns with outstanding professionalism and care, the situation was taken care of immediatley with positive results!!!
Thank you Lt. Leavens, you are one who truly cares for our city!!!

last year lt leavens was trying to be a real cop when he couldnt stand the chief. this year he is a puppet who has his strings pulled by him. you people think you know the inner goings on in this department, but you have no idea.
