New Mexican Restaurant Opens in West Dearborn

Elena's Mexican Carry-out is now open for business. The restaurant is located at 24142 Michigan Ave.
Dearborn residents looking for a new place for authentic carry-out Mexican food can now visit Elena’s Mexican Carry-out in west Dearborn.
Elena’s is located at 24142 Michigan Ave., just west of Telegraph on the north side of Michigan Avenue. It is in the building that formerly housed a Thai food restaurant and before that a deli called Harley’s.
Alex Flores and his mother Phyllis are hopeful their new restaurant will prove to be more attractive to the taste buds of Dearbornites and nearby businesses. Judging from what is on the menu, it would appear Flores has the right stuff.
Flores says all of the recipes at Elena’s are from his grandmother. Everything is made fresh daily, right down to the salsa that his mother Phyllis makes each morning.
The restaurant opened last Wednesday and for now will be carry-out only. In the future, the restaurant could expand into the building next door should a dining option be needed, Flores said.
Hours are Monday-Thursday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to midnight. The restaurant is closed on Sunday. For now, Elena’s will not offer food delivery.
On Monday, the restaurant offers $1 deep fried beef tacos. Lunch specials are Monday-Friday until 2 p.m. For $7, patrons have the choice of either two tacos, flautas, enchiladas or tamales, along with rice, beans and a 12 oz. soda.
For more information you can call the restaurant at 313-768-5211.

See? Same old backwater politics in action. Only Sonic could save Dearborn and what do we get? Another Mexican restaurant. Actually…if there were ONLY Mexican and Arabic restaurants in Dearborn, it would be a much better place. Buena Suerte to the Flores’. Thanks for becoming part of Dearborn.

I wish success for Elena’s Mexican Carry-out. And I look forward to coming in and ordering a meal from this establishment.

I would also like to welcome Elena’s to Dearborn.
Sonic isn’t interested in saving Dearborn and apparently no one else is either. I think we should be thankful that a handful of small business owners are even willing to open in Dearborn.

My wife & I will go to Elena’s with every expectation and anticipation of a great meal. It makes me very happy to support the excellent small business owners in Dearborn – they are the key and core of revitalization of our community.
While you’re down there, don’t forget Westpointe, Dragon Palace, and Millers.
Thank you for investing in our community!

Our family tried it a week ago. It was absolutely horrible! I don’t usually write comments on-line, but felt that I had to let people know not to waste their money there. Go to Frida’s or Mexican Fiesta instead. Even Taco Bell is better! This place will be gone in a month.

Elena’s is alot better than all those other Mexican Restaurants. Elens’s is authentic, and the worker’s actually out love and care into their food, rather than just throw some powder into a pan to create, what they call, meat.

Just tried Elena’s for the first time. I ordered and while waiting I noticed the whole staff was family who was laughing and having a great time while working together. The food was out of this world!!! We had the tacos, enchiladas, and flautas, all were authentic and delicious!!!! We will be back to support our local favorite.

Hey Oppa 1 outta 12 comments giving a bad review, I’d say giving a month is absurd! You obviously can’t distinguish good authentic Mexican food, ESP comparing to those you have mentioned!! Thank you for your business and look forward to all the many customers we have and will continue to have in our long future.

Just had lunch there and it was perhaps the best Mexican I have had anywhere in the Detroit area with maybe the exception of a Mexican friend of mines home cooking, nice portions and staff was funny and friendly. This is my new go to place for Mexican. I had the Burrito lucy special. EXCELLANT job!
