New Store Coming to Closed East Dearborn Kroger
The building that once housed Kroger in East Dearborn will soon have a new tenant that will offer retail and some groceries, Dearborn Mayor John B. O’Reilly, Jr., says.
Not all of the 56,000 sq. ft. building will be used, at least not initially. At a Council meeting this week, O’Reilly said about 40,000 sq. ft. will be used as retail/grocery and the remaining space would be set aside for future use.
City officials aren’t yet naming the tenant moving into the new building but we have heard the new occupant is connected to the Cash & Carry chain store at 6661 Chase Road. It appears the former Kroger building is a better location for the Cash & Carry than the Chase Road building.
The new store could open for business in about one month, O’Reilly says.

Why all the suspense? Everyone is aware it GREENLAND, no such reason for all the secrecy — Big Boy you couldn’t keep a secret if u wanted to, you have already told a number of people.

This comment has nothing to do with the new store but since no one is talking about it I find it strange that the city has not talked at all about the football coach at Fordson. Coach Zaban was invited to a Ramaden dinner last night at the White House with Pres. Obama. I think that this is quite an honor for the city and also Fordson High School. Guess the city and school board didn’t.

Couldn’t happy to a more deserving representative for Dearborn.

Maybe Mark Somers could apply for a job bagging groceries and use his tips to help pay the verdicts.

Good for the Coach. Donna U missed on this 1. My kid isn’t going to football practice at midnight due to Religious beliefs, sorry. Now back to slabs. The dollar store near ACO is attracting low-lifes, for certain! Check ’em out if you don’t believe me. This concrete slab deal could have been used for a Tent City, because that’s where this Mayor is leading us!! I went to the Rain-Soaked Beerfest we call Homecoming – and listened to the wanna-be bands, even the fireworks sucked this year. What a waste of money!! Greenland, Dollar Stores, Washed-up Beerfests, midnight football practice, more renters every day, I see what’s ahead – last one out, turn off the lights! McCheese, it’s all yours!!!!

The Big Boy has turned this town into a joke, like him, unless we find a replacement for him & Mark Somers we are headed for total ruin. Please don’t forget when its time to vote, to vote these zeroes out, and lets begin rebuilding our town to what it used to be, so we can once again have pride in Dearborn, and change the image from Pee Wee Herman Somers, and Happy Meal O’Reilly.

Be Real – Boy, are your panties in a knot. No optimism left in your soul?
I will be happy to see another store in Kroger’s old location. The seniors from the apartments will be too since so many of them shopped at Kroger’s.
The kids at Fordson can practice anytime that they want. How does that effect you. As 9/11 comes again, isn’t it time to learn something about hatred and become a better person.
I recommend that you watch the trailer on Fordson high school that is on u-tube (if you are computer literate). You would learn a lot.
Maybe Deep could link to it, for everyone to watch.
Stop blaming the mayor and the city for everything. (No, I am not a family member nor a City employee).
Remember – If you are not a part of the solution, you a part of the problem.
