Public Invited to July 27 Workshop on Dearborn Neighborhoods
Dearborn residents are invited to guide the future development of the city through participating in public workshops and taking an online survey.
The process has already begun with one meeting and will continue at 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27 with a workshop focused on neighborhoods in the northeast and southeast part of the city. It is at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, Studio A, 15801 Michigan Ave.
Input will be used in the creation of Dearborn’s new master plan, which will be a vision for the future of transportation, land use, the economy and environmental and cultural stewardship.
The master plan will help determine the physical characteristics of the city and facilitate the type of community residents want to see for the long term.
Two other public meetings will focus on different neighborhoods of the city, although all residents are invited to attend.
The schedule is as follows:
• Southwest residents: 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 3 at the Dearborn Schools Administration Building, 18700 Audette.
• Northwest residents: 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 17 at the Robert Herndon Dearborn Hills Golf Course.
• Summation workshop: 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 20 at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, Club Room One, 15801 Michigan Ave.
In addition, all residents are invited to complete an online survey about Dearborn and its future development.
The survey can be found at http://www.cityofdearborn.org/live/masterplan
The survey must be completed by August 1.
In addition, paper copies can be picked up at City Hall, 13615 Michigan Avenue, in the City Plan Office. They can also be found at all libraries and at the Arab Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS) main building on Schaefer.

What master plan? The Mayor changes direction constantly, so why should us residents suggest anything when the Big Boy will do what he wants, as he bullies his predominantly rubber stamp council to do as he wishes, or else. Just look at what he has done with things like the Bash at Camp Dearborn (cancels it, after people rented tents to coincide with the Bash), and how he is strongarming the clubs at Homecoming, by skimming a percentage in addition to charging a fee for participating at Homecoming (this was done at the last minute also). Exactly who do you think you are Don Corleone? Do what you want Big Boy, because thats whata you’ll end up doing.

Look at the mayor’s ballot proposal for the elimination of civil service. Claims civil service is outdated, and wants to replace it with a “human resources commission” which will be appointed by guess who? The mayor!
CS Commission had seats not appointed by the mayor to keep it kosher. He and Walling didn’t like that. Tafelski, the heir apparent is all over himself getting this one through in a “closed session.”
Guess who appoints the HR commission? Guess who has unfettered ability to hand out jobs?
Classic old school, big boss politics.
McCheese strikes again!

What part of the survey says do you want to revoke your vote for Judge Sommers. Too bad no recall allowed. Maybe he can be reassigned to the pools? He thinks he walks on water anyways.

Wow! what a slipppery slide as our quality of life standards in Dearborn go down what will be next? We use to be a community of home owners, we are turning into a city of landlords, next slumlords than abandoned and burned out homes. Lets not let this happen to our city, call city hall, let our officials know we are not happy. lets turn our city into the envy of SE Michigan.

What a joke…
I just returned from Merchant’s warehouse to pick up some wine and was aghast that the parking rates were changed to give a “5 minute” grace instead of the 1/2 that was prior. What a joke, is this the intelligence of out city government again at work? Why bother, stick to everyone. I just came back from Ferndale and even though their parking is fee based, my 25 cents bought me 1/2 hour. Ferndale had so much happening compared to Dearborn, I did not mind spending the money.
This city is so messed up, the “leaders” trying to drive citizens away, why else would they make such stupid changes? I can’t wait until election day but the damage has already been done. Nice job Big Boy!!!
