San Francisco 49ers Expected to Practice Saturday at Dearborn High School
The San Francisco 49ers, in town Sunday to play the Detroit Lions, are planning to practice Saturday at Dearborn High School’s football field, DeepsaidWhat.com has learned.
San Francisco is 4-1 and plays the undefeated Lions at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Ford Field in Detroit.
The 49ers are scheduled to practice at my alma mater between noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday. Dearborn Police will be at the field to keep an eye on things and manage any crowds that may gather if the practice is held.
Now Dearborn High School can brag that they really do have the best football field in Dearborn, good enough for the five-time Super Bowl champ 49ers to ask to use.

What does a professional sports team have to do with the education of Dearborn youth? Who pays for the police, custodians, insurance, possible damage etc. Our schools have to be for education not for sideshows that drain our dwindling resources. Who is allowed to commit our assets so easily so a for profit organization can benefit? Did the legal department review hold harmless agreements? What amount has been paid for the use of our assets? Why aren’t people in our school administration focusing on our kids, not professional sports teams. Who ever devoted their time to make this happen needs to have their pay docked for the hours they were not serving our children. When charitable organizations in Dearborn want to hold an event they have to submit a proposal for the police department to review and sign off on. Was this required for this sports team? Lots of questions but I suspect no answers will be forthcoming.

Donna: we asked the same and were told a fee was paid for the use of the field. We will find out what that total fee was and post it here.

Nothing was said at any of the council meeting that I can remember about using the police for this event. Of course they could have used the old ’emergency approval’ of the council – you know something that just came up overnite. Sure thing.

How cool is that? Too bad it is during the Michigan-Michigan State game. Otherwise, the crowd probably would be quite a bit larger.

Received an email from Pam Adams saying that the 49ers did not use Dbrn High’s field they secured an indoor facility.

The word is they ending up switching plans and going to the dome at Eastern Michigan because the forecast called for rain… would have been neat to see!

I left four messages for the assistant principal of Dearborn High over the last two weeks. No call back. I guess now I know why…
