Reflections Wanted for 9-11 Ceremony in Dearborn
The city of Dearborn is joining with The Henry Ford and the Dearborn Area Ministerial Association (DAMA) to present a Remembrance and Unity Candlelight Vigil on the 10th Anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001.
The ceremony is open to the public and will be at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11 on the lawn of the Henry Ford Museum. A community candlelight vigil was held in the same location in 2001.
DAMA is seeking short and heart-felt reflections from the public to be read at the ceremony. Deadline for submission is Monday, Aug. 22. See below for DAMA’s press release.
ENVISIONING A BETTER, MORE PEACEFUL WORLD
As you reflect on the events of September 11, 2001 and our world today, what do you hope for? What would a better, more peaceful world be like?
We are inviting people to submit their ideas to be woven into a litany for the Remembrance and Unity Vigil to be held at The Henry Ford at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 11,
This program is sponsored by the City of Dearborn, The Henry Ford, and the Dearborn Area Ministerial Association.
We hope to have ideas from a wonderful diversity of people: different ages, religious traditions, ethnicities.
We will look for common themes and unique perspectives as we weave them together into the litany to be used at the event.
We will select a representative group of people to be readers at the event.
We need a succinct one sentence / one line statement of your hope or vision for a better world.
DEADLINE: Monday, August 22

A disaster waiting to happen..I? s this a “protest free zone?? I feel that this “reflection” will become more of an opportunity to stamp on a persons right to express their freedom of speach if the City does not agree with their comments. Why is this held on private property? Is the City a bit hesitent because of past disasters? I think 9/11 is better left alone around here since with Dearborn having the largest Muslim poulation in the U.S., this may not play well on a national level. I hope this event is done with reverence for those Americans who lost their lives and not become a media event…again
