Frida Mexican Cuisine Coming to West Dearborn
For those who have lamented the lack of a good Mexican restaurant on the west side of Dearborn (we have), the spicy side of your palate will soon have something to smile about.

A new Mexican restaurant called Frida is coming to West Dearborn.
A new Mexican restaurant is going into the building once occupied by Annam, the Vietnamese restaurant that closed in July 2009.
The new restaurant on Michigan Avenue, between Monroe and Mason, is called Frida and it will serve Mexican cuisine. It isn’t clear when the new restaurant will open but a sign outside of the business says it will be “soon.” We look forward to having a place to go in West Dearborn that serves good Mexican food. Currently, there is only the Fuego Mexican grill on Schaefer near Warren in East Dearborn that fills that void.
In addition to Frida, there is talk that the closed Maestro’s in the West Village Commons development, also on Michigan Avenue, will soon be the home of a second Mexican restaurant. Just when or if such a restaurant will open isn’t clear but Post Bar owner Fred Giordano is said to be working to make it happen.
We’re hopeful both restaurants will open soon and take two more vacant buildings in West Dearborn off the market.

I googled Frida and found two other locations for the Frida chain, both are in California and appear to look like swanky restaurants. Would be a great addition for Dearborn.

OMG, I hope we have one or both!!! I love Mexican and regularly goto Mexican Town (any of the restaurants there) in Detroit. I’d love to stay in Dearborn!

Becki – You should really try Fuego’s on Schaefer at Warren Ave. It is a cozy, up-scale restaurant with excellent food at reasonable prices.
I’m sure that you will be pleasantly surprised and won’t have to travel to Mexican town. Oh, and by the way, it is free parking.

Dearborn needs more shopping, not more restaurants. Too many restaurants have failed. Shopping will bring people to the restaurants of Dearborn! Think of Plymouth and Northville.

Glad to finally have Mexican food back in West Dearborn! I liked it when Moes was where the sushi place is now. What is going on with iBurger? There is still brown paper on the windows, so is it open or not???

iBurger is open next door. They are expanding into the other part of the building. They have great burgers, but service is a bit slow.

Hey Ford Guy,
The Frida restaurants in California are not related to that which would open in West Dearborn.
Can you imagine their website saying: Frida Mexican Cuisine–Beverly Hills, Brentwood, San Diego, Glendale, and now Dearborn.
Deearborn? Huh? What?

Homemade cooking, traditional flavors at reasonable prices. Will serve liquor, beer and wine. Will offer delivery, catering to all occasions and dine-in services. Frida will be opening soon!!

I had breakfast at Frida this morning and the food was fabulous! They expect their liquor license in December. They buy all of their produce daily and will begin shopping at the Dearborn Farmer’s Market this week. What a great addition to the Dearborn dining scene.

I am very familiar with “great ” Mexican food, the owner is from Southwest Detroit, originally from El Ranch Restaurant on Vernor, my buddy suggested we go there for lunch, I was hesitant, to try a new place, glad I did , it was great, beans n rice on point!, thats how you can tell all the rest will be good, they will be having a 2012 Cinco de Mayo event. this place was great , I will return and recommend you do to.
