New ‘iburger lounge’ Coming to Dearborn

iburger lounge will soon open in the West Village Commons

Those in search of a burger joint other than Miller’s will soon have a new place to visit in Dearborn.

No, Fatburger isn’t opening, despite the sign that still proclaims it is “coming soon.”

Instead, get ready for the iburger lounge, which will soon open in the West Village Commons.

Hassan Aoun, owner/chef who worked as a chef at Ciao before it closed, is opening the new iburger with Houssam Aoude.

Aoun says his new iburger, which is moving into the space once occupied by Hot Spot, will serve burgers, gourmet pizzas, soups and salads. All of the items will be organic and nothing he serves will come from a freezer, he promises.

iburger will move into the space once occupied by Hot Spot.

The iburger will open in two stages. The restaurant portion will open in about a month, Aoun says. The “lounge” part, the second stage, will open in the now vacant space next to Hot Spot, where patrons can enjoy their food in a more relaxed space, he says.

To attract some of the bar crowd, Aoun says the restaurant could be open until 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

Yay just what we need another resturant, all it is restaurant restaurant restaurants down there. BTW does anyone know what the status of the old tipperary pub on southfield is, there has been a sign up there for a year now proclaming that a bar & grill is coming soon, but no evidence of any work going on, just like the fatburger coming soon sign in west dearborn.

It’s better than a vacant space. They definitely are all the same.

    zzzzzzz!

Best of Luck! We could use a good burger joint in that area. All prosperous cities have huge selections of restaurants. Hopefully some good retail will come in soon and we are onto something. I agree, the news of any new business is much better than a vacant building.

Good luck to the new place. But I’ll tell you what, Jimmy’s burgers at Howell’s are better than Miller’s and his fries are the BEST! But some good competition is welcomed, I’m sure.

Jimmy rules!!! Howell’s is the best especially now that there is no smoking!

I agree that while Millers are still very good even though they’re no longer hand made, that Howell’s beats them with a unique taste, larger burgers and if one likes a greasy burger/ground round like I do sometimes, then Howell’s is the best primarily due to good old Jimmy. Their 2 choices of fries – regular or sweet potato are great too.

I agree Michael we had lunch in there the other day and onion rings are also great.

    YAWN…………

Anybody out there interested in opening a grocery store? How about a Hiller’s or Trader Joe’s?
I’d be interested in how these new businesses come to town. Does anybody know if the city actually recruits or do the developers advertise for use of their buildings? I’d really be interested to know if anybody cares to share any knowledge they have about this.

Agree with most of the comments. A burger is a burger is a burger. Jimmy brings what we all go to a bar for, camaraderie, friendship and (least of all) a good burger. This whole burger thing is a microcosm of what Dearborn really needs. Instead of the Fatburgers, the Buffalo Wild Wings, et al, we need more Jimmy’s and people who not only believe in Dearborn, but are Dearborn.

Jimmy gives me a glass of water with my food for free if I’m not drinking my usual. The guy at Miller’s makes me pay for water with dinner or lunch. I haven’t been back. Considering the way they pack ’em in at Miller’s with people who think there is some sort of magic there, charging for a glass of water when I’m going to leave and open up the table again as soon as I finish my hamburger just seems sort of greedy to me.

hey all you negative people at the top im sorry you failed in life but you should support any local business or entrepreneur who spends their hard earned money to bring back a down town business district that has failed miserably. i hope this place stays open and becomes a staple in dearborn. not everyone wants to go to a dank bar to have a mediocre burger, it is a fresh idea and business plan that i wish all the best to the chef and houssam.

With downtown west Dearborn (DTWD) being so devastated due to the multi-thousands of Ford employee jobs eliminated, along with the terrible economy and poor timing and perhaps some poor decisions made by leaders, I am glad to have any business at all open up in DTWD and wish them the best and only the best.
