This is what I commented on the other day – this will be shown 29 times a week for how many weeks. Don’t know about anyone else but isn’t this ‘over-kill’?

I’m looking to her all the political blah, blah. Instead actually do something for a change.

I don’t even want to watch this once. We watch our city goverment officials continue to make lousy decisions about our city, lets face it, all you have to do is drive down Michigan Avenue and see the living proof. While a few of us are trying to vote new blood in this city with every election, way to many people don’t take the time, or are clueless about how poorly our elected officials are doing. Where do you want to start? Schools, Parking,Vacant Buildings, Building Inspectors taking bribes, the great sewage project, home taxes that arent even close to what there worth, the list is endless. Hopefully people will wake up and kick them all out of office so we can see where Detroit ends and Dearborn begins someday.

I dont think you can download it. The link is there, but i clicked it, media player opened up and it said the file was either currupted or just could not play it, so i think its broken, I dont know if its just me or if anyone else is having this problem, let me know. Oh yeah Goose, at least we kicked Thomas out, thats as good as its probably gonna get for like 10 yrs..

Goose, funny you should mention the blurred border between Detroit and Dearborn. Apparently there are frequent pickpocketing, purse snatching and knock-down robbing incidents at Fairlane Meadows. A friend had her wallet stolen and went directly to the Dearborn police department to report it. She was discouraged from reporting the incident, because according to the desk officer, ‘this kind of thing happens all the time there and they usually don’t make reports.’ She talked with someone else who related a similar story, and informed her about the violent purse snatchings. Apparently we are not far at all from Detroit, when the police themselves don’t think that thefts or robberies are important.

All citizens should be concerned about this because this type of activity will escalate unless checked. It is my wish for the new year that the admninistration will focus some of its energy on protecting Dearborn citizens and their property from the criminals which apparently have found Dearborn an easy target.

it says the video isnt ready until the 8th… right? for online streaming

    Dearbornette,
ever notice the streeet ;ighting on Greenfield south of Ford Rd. its very dark in the area as well as the parking lot and road into targets from Greenfield. Light it up and police presence would do the trick easy fix. but Chief Haddad being from Detroit and all (srill lives on eastside of detroit) maybe he’s used to it.

  9. Milwood Fordson says:

    still not still

  10. Milwood Fordson says:

not srill, I’m going to bed now, I can’t type.

  11. Donna Hay says:

Don’t have anywhere else to put this – Wonder why the city waited until 7:00 am today to start plowing – what was wrong with starting during the night?? Now they won’t start salting until 7:00 PM tonight.

That group photo is more frightening than the video. Not enough new faces.

  13. YoungGibraltar says:

I saw the video, Shoosh was pretty funny. The rest eh, whateva. When the Mayor says “the humanness of everything” made me laugh. They really have some rockstar status.

Master of Ceremonies was a delight.

Donna, I COMPLETELY agree with you. By 7am I’m already on my way to work. Please explain how this plowing assisted me?! I know that we’re going to see cuts in services, but some heads up would have been great. The roads were ATROCIOUS. I was really glad I only had to go about 2 blocks on Dearborn streets! And then when they DID plow my street, they went straight up the middle and missed the sides of the street. It’s ridiculous.

  15. hopeful says:

I also agree with Donna about the late plowing….and I would like to add that I found it SAD that with my water bill in January I received a color print out notice (to all Dearborn citizens) about keeping your lawn under 6 inches. The time of year to send this is inappropriate, not to mention a waste of tax payer dollars – color print outs to all residents would be a little pricey. Also, I have asked this in the past and am still curious – who is paying for the lights/electricity on at the old LaShish???? I hope not tax payers.

  16. Dearbornette says:

Hopeful, I am guessing you and I are paying for it. The property was forfeited to the feds and Michigan treasury, so guess who is paying for it. You could try emailing someone at Michigan treasury or contact someone in the Detroit office of the Treasury but good luck with that. My guess is that they keep it lit for a reason.
